And not just wiggle them, but wiggle them independently, either one at a time, or in counter-rhythm, such as 3/4 against 4/4. Cool, eh? Occupation: Education/training Industry: Other

| Well, who knows where this is supposed to go? Somewhere more permanent than the "entry," I'd presume, so someone bring me up to speed. In the meantime, here's my facebook address (for the screaming hordes who want to read the dang thing): Facebook me! . What else? Almost nothing. Mailed Jason his pop-tart holder, but not the pop-tarts themselves, as they were heavy and expensive to send to NYC; but they'll be waiting for his New Years pilgrimage to Kansas. I got confirmation today on the March 22 reading at Del Mar College in Corpus Christi -- we'll get paid $ AND get to hang at the Gulf of Mexico. Now it's time to try and find another gig or two that same week (spring break week for me) while in the south Texas zone. Any ideas? BTW, wasn't there once a movie called "Kramer vs. Kramer"? Somewhat appropro, methinks. Second Xanadu-dah Yawp (next week?) will look (very briefly, as usual) at Jeff Worley's Happy Hour at the Two Keys Tavern. | | |
| Big Daniel Spees / Natasha Russell reading is a thing o' the past. Oddly, Steven Hinds showed up with books and sold a small batch, so the event was the Poetry Triple Crown for Vet Day. Big eat at our house, lots of punch & no big fights. Made it to Anchor for Free Staters & trickled home in a Free State of mind, flowing down the backstreet gutters. Today is George's birthday, Tomorrow is Jason's. One day closer to death. Bam. Happy birthday guys. In honor of birthdays everywhere, here's a picture of Cathy at a Mexico City bakery, summer of '06. http://xf5.xanga.com/9c8d10315043388914135/t61551514.jpg | | |
| Hey, the first Xanadu-dah Yawp appeared in the Wichita City Paper, but somebody decided to put a title on top of it, "Poetry Still in Motion," which was a bad cliche, but even worse, it screws up the opening month contest, which was to answer the question "What two poets are implied by the name of the column?" -- who knows if anyone will figure out that Xanadu-dah Yawp IS the name of the column. Maybe they'll think it's my Islamic name . . . . I fought off the urge to put self-image on column, but have received some grief and may yet give in, as long as image is UNRECOGNIZABLE. Tomorrow, whatever it is, Veterans' Day for real, ll november, look for Daniel Spees and Natasha Russell to read at Delano Book Room -- about 2:15. Will be a strong reading in support of Daniel's chapbook Michaelangelo's Snowman. Follow the poets home, and then to the Anchor for the ultra-retro (like 1860's) music of the Free-Staters. We're cleaning house, so entry ends. Maybe another one next month. Oh yeah, the "What I'm Reading, listening to, etc" doesn't work for me cuz I'm an idiot, or cuz I'm not listening to something purchased from Amazon, but I'm reading an old classic by the "angry young man" Kingsley Amis, Lucky Jim. I'm only about 53 years behind the times. Funny as hell though -- should be plenty of cheap ones in the used book bins. By the way, our daughter Rebekah scared the crap out of some crack-head mugger in New York last night & sent him packing. I think she stole his shoes, to boot. | | |
| Let's see if this LINK can work here: Captain Beefheart Rocks The Marimba Queens. If it works, credit Neil. If it doesn't work, or if the video is really lame and halting and doesn't play right, blame youtube.com. It USED to work just fine. | | |
